GAA Design, a young and ambitious architectural practice, gained a defining opportunity with the redevelopment of the Queensmere Shopping Centre—their largest project to date. The three-year journey became a turning point for the firm, showcasing their determination and growing expertise.
The complex scheme required multiple redesigns, close collaboration with the Local Authority, and feedback from CABE. Despite challenges and scrutiny, GAA Design’s adaptability and creativity led to a refined concept that balanced innovation with the needs of the community.

The journey concluded with the approval of GAA Design’s ambitious redevelopment scheme, which introduced 1,160 square meters of new retail space, a major anchor store, a large car park, and 675 apartments—seamlessly integrating retail and residential elements within a unified vision.
The design featured materials that reflected the town’s desired identity, while the curved facades of the residential towers added elegance and a distinctive character to the evolving urban landscape.
